Michael Ammermüller secured a start-finish victory at the Sachsenring. The German won the eleventh round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany on Saturday, ahead of Nick Yelloly from Great Britain.Third place on the podium was Dutchman Larry Ten Voorde,”Fastest in practice, qualifying and race – this has been a perfect weekend so far.Nick Yelloly was able to follow me throughout the race. That’s why I knew that I shouldn’t allow myself to make a single mistake,”says Ammermüller.

In qualifying, Ammermüller clinched pole position on the 3.645-kilometre track. After the start, the 31-year-old rider took the lead in the field of 20 vehicles.Yelloly started the race from third position and overtook Porsche Junior Thomas Preining with a rocket launch directly in the first lap.

The 26-year-old and Ammermüller broke away from the field of riders as the race progressed.Yelloly was lurking behind the Porsche routinier, but he was able to keep the lead large enough. After 17 laps, Yelloly finished the race on the traditional circuit a second behind Ammermüller,”It wasn’t a perfect run by me, but the set-up of my car was perfectly tuned. In the championship, everything is still open, and that’s exactly what I was aiming for,”says Yelloly.

The Dutchman Larry Ten Voorde finished third.Starting from fifth place, the 20-year-old lost his position to Dennis Olsen right at the beginning.Ten Voorde kept his distance to the Norwegian, however, and was rewarded in the eleventh round: at the end of the 780-metre-long start-finish straight, Ten Voorde used the slipstream to pass Olsen and Preining.

Ten Voorde finished the race in his 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup as the best rookie at the same time “This was an action-packed race.I recognized spontaneously the gap for overtaking. After that it got really tight again, but I kept a cool head,”says Ten Voorde.

    Austrian Preining misses the podium

Porsche Junior Preining started the race from third position on the grid and crossed the finish line in fourth place “It was a very intensive run. However, my tyres were only in the second half of the race at temperature.Otherwise, there would have been more to it,”says Preining.Behind the youngster from Linz, his team mate Olsen came in fifth,”My start was really good.Unfortunately, I still couldn’t manage to pass Thomas. On Sunday, I will start from third position and of course I want to win,”says Olsen.

David Kolkmann from Germany finished sixth on the mountain and valley track.Wolfgang Triller was greeted with great cheers at the Sachsenring. The German finished the race on Saturday as the best driver in the amateur class.Triller won the title in the B-Classement with 141 points and “A great feeling! Thanks to my advantage in the amateur standings, I didn’t have to drive at full risk. That was a big advantage for me.I’m thrilled for the team, as each of us contributes to this success.”

In the overall ranking Olsen continues to rank first after eleven runs. With six victories and 217 points, the youngster from Väler in Norway leads Yelloly. The driver from Solihull is in second place with 195 points.Ammermüller was third in the ranking with 151 points. The best rookie driver is Ten Voorde. The junior racer has 226 points in his class.

The twelfth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany starts on Sunday at 11.45 am.
