Hamilton on Rosberg:”We were never friends.”
The Mercedes star surprises with a commitment to the relationship with his former team mate.Even in childhood, the two had no special relationship.
Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton has put an end to the myth that he and the retired world champion Nico Rosberg (Wiesbaden) were friends before their Mercedes time together.
“We were never friends,”said the Briton of the Swiss newspaper Blick on the fringes of the Singapore Grand Prix (14:00 hrs in the LIVETICKER) about the two men’s karting days together.
Even after Rosberg’s resignation, nothing has changed:”The relationship is now the same as it was before our Mercedes era.We never spoke!Yeah, that was when we were 15 years old.”
Hamilton and Rosberg had spent four turbulent years at Mercedes from 2013 to 2016.Accompanied by differences on and off the track, Hamilton won the title in 2014 and 2015, and last year Rosberg crowned himself champion for the first time.
Hamilton’s statements come as a surprise in that in the past, Rosberg in particular had given Rosberg the impression that in spite of the rivalry that had already existed at that time, both of them fostered friendship during their childhood days.
“We had some nice conversations after I resigned. There were some nice words from him.He also congratulated me.I can even laugh with him again,”Rosberg said after his resignation from the BBC and hoped that his relationship with the Englishman would be “really good”.
However, according to the most recent statements, this seems impossible.
Hamilton: excellent relationship with Bottas
Hamilton’s relationship with his new team-mate Valtteri Bottas (Finland) is much better,”This is excellent so far.And it only changes when he tries to trick me or cheat me.But he is not that kind of person, so I trust him fully,”the 32-year-old continued.
