Porsche Carrera Cup: Ammermüller achieves one-two victory
Full success for Michael Ammermüller in the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Sachsenring – He wins on Sunday voe Nick Ywlloly and Larry Ten Voorde
Optimal race weekend for Michael Ammermüller in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany: After his victory on Saturday he also won the race on Sunday at the Sachsenring “This was an ingenious weekend.I’m happy for the team that we finally could reward ourselves with victories.My start was great and decisive for first place,”says Ammermüller on his triumphant ride.In the twelfth round, the Briton Nick Yelloly finished second.His team mate Larry Ten Voorde from the Netherlands finished third.
As the fastest in qualifying, Ammermüller secured pole position for the race.The 31-year-old successfully took the lead after the start.Behind Ammermüller, Porsche junior Thomas Preining started the run from second position.The Austrian offered the spectators an exciting duel with Yelloly.Although Preining broke away from the 26-year-old in the course of the race, he was unable to hold his position in the end.
In the 19th century.In the first lap he slipped into the gravel bed with his 911, which didn’t finish the race.The safety car drove onto the track and Yelloly took second place of the junior racer.In the 23rd.After the second lap, the final round, Yelloly defended his position after the restart until he crossed the finish line,”I waited patiently for a mistake after Thomas Preining and was rewarded.It was unfortunate for Thomas, he drove a strong race,”says Yelloly.
Ten Voorde secured third place on the 3.645-kilometre circuit.Starting from position five, he overtook Toni Wolf and Dennis Olsen directly in the first lap.Ten Voorde then fought a thrilling duel with the Norwegian throughout the race,”I’m looking forward to third place.The fight with Dennis Olsen was really intense, but we always left enough room for ourselves,”says Ten Voorde.The 20-year-old is leading the ranking with 251 points for newcomers to series production.
Behind Ten Voorde, Olsen saw the chequered flag in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup as the fourth,”Unfortunately, my start was not so good.After that I tried everything to overtake Ten Voorde, but it just didn’t work out.Nevertheless, I am confidently travelling to Hockenheim for the season’s finale,”says Olsen.The fifth place went to the Saxonian local hero Toni Wolf.The German David Kolkmann finished sixth on the traditional mountain and valley route.Wolf Nathan finished the race as the best driver of the amateur classification.The Dutchman, Tom Kieffer and Philipp Sager, took second and third place in the B-Class.
The race for Porsche Junior Preining was unlucky:”I started well and was able to defend myself successfully against Nick Yelloly.At the end of the race my tail broke out of the corner when accelerating, after that it was over.I’m sorry for the team, because we had the speed,”says the Austrian.The 19-year-old finished over 75 percent of the race distance and was therefore fourth in the rookie classification.With 205 points, Preining is still in second place in the newcomer class.
Olsen travels to Hockenheim as leader of the overall standings for the season finale.The youngster from the Norwegian Väler leads with six victories and 230 points.Behind Olsen comes Yelloly with 215 points in second place.Ammermüller is currently third in the championship and has scored 176 points so far.The season finale of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany will take place from 13.till 15.October at the Hockenheimring.Then the races 13 and 14 will be held in the DTM.
