Vettel escapes after crash without penalty
The start drama around Ferrari has no further consequences for the participants. The Formula 1 stewards refrain from fining Vettel, Räikkönen and Verstappen.
The Formula 1 racing commissioners have classified the crash between Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen and Max Verstappen as a normal racing accident after the start of the Singapore Grand Prix.
This resulted in a meeting of the stewards after the Grand Prix. This means that the parties involved can get away with it without punishment.
Especially Vettel will be relieved. The majority of respondents and experts agree that the Ferrari star is to blame for the trio’s departure.
Verstappen, Christian Horner and Niki Lauda had clearly committed themselves to Vettel as the polluter.
However, the racing jury came to the conclusion that the incident “will not have any further consequences” and that “none of the three drivers can be blamed completely or mainly”.
Vettel, Raikkonen and Verstappen were heard at the meeting.
Immediately after the start of the race in Singapore, Raikkonen and Verstappen collided, and the Finn crashed into Vettel’s cars. All three of them had to finish the run early.
The beneficiary was Lewis Hamilton, who won and thus took a big step towards winning the World Cup.
