King James misses Boston’s Pierce party
In an emotional ceremony, the Boston Celtics take off the jersey of the 2008 champion. However, the Celtics clearly lose the game against the cavs.
It became emotional in the TD Garden of Boston when Celtics legend Paul Pierce was honored.
His number 33 jersey, which is no longer awarded by the NBA record holder, was placed under the roof of the hall under the applause of the fans. Pierce played in Boston from 1998 to 2013 and celebrated the last championship of the franchise with the team in 2008.
The game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which served as the setting for the ceremony, was clearly lost to the Celtics with 99:121.
Especially superstar LeBron James emerged as a party crasher and with 24 points and ten assists he played a double-double.
Newcomers Jordan Clarkson (17 points), Rodney Hood (15) and George Hill (12) also played their part in the Ohio side’s away win.
At the Celitcs, German international Daniel Theis scored four points and three rebounds in just eleven minutes.
After the hosts were still in the lead after the first quarter, the Cavs turned the game in the following 24 minutes and went into the last quarter with a 21-point lead. They then defended it until the end without any major problems.
With 40 wins and 18 defeats, Celtics lost to Toronto Raptors (39-16) in the Eastern Conference, while the Cavs won their third consecutive game and are currently in third place in the East.
