The two top 10 players Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges will play in the Fed Cup semi-finals against Czech Republic (21/22nd place). April) is expected to return to the DTB squad.
That’s what coach Barbara Rittner told SID after a surprising 3-2 win in Minsk, Belarus.

The game with the ten-time title holder for the entry into the final will probably take place in Stuttgart as usual. The week after the Fed Cup, the WTA tournament will start there, which Kerber (2015,2016) and Görges (2011) have already won.
In addition to the top duo, Tatjana Maria and Anna-Lena Grönefeld, who won the deciding point against the last year’s finalist in doubles, can also count on the chances of a nomination:”Tatjana did a great job and Anna-Lena is always an option as a double specialist,”said Rittner, who is expecting a “tennis spectacle” against the Czech Republic.
Meanwhile, Kerber has announced that she will be attending the Mallorca Open for the first time during her preparation for Wimbledon (18. till 24. After her promising results at the beginning of the year in Wimbledon, the 30-year-old Kiel-based rider sees the greatest chances of winning her third Grand Slam title in Wimbledon.
In Mallorca, Kerber is the second top 10 player in the tournament alongside French Caroline Garcia. Last year Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe) had only failed in the final on Latvian Anastasija Sevastova.
“I’m really looking forward to the tournament with great anticipation. I love the island of Mallorca and the beautiful grass pitches in Santa Ponsa, where I had the chance to prepare for Wimbledon in the past few years,”said the ninth in the world rankings. Kerber had already trained on the course in 2016 and only then failed in Wimbledon in the final with Serena Williams.
After a disappointing year in 2017, Kerber had recently regained his former strength and celebrated her first tournament victory since the US Open 2016 at the WTA tournament in Sydney. At the Australian Open she only failed in the semi-finals due to the then world number one Simona Halep.
