Abuse scandal: former coach guilty
A former youth trainer from England is convicted of sexual offences against minors. He is accused of even more cases.
Former youth coach Barry Bennell was found guilty of abuse scandal in English football on Tuesday by a court in Liverpool in 36 cases.
Previously, the 64-year-old had already pleaded guilty in six other cases.
Bennell, former youth coach of Crewe Alexandra and also active at Manchesters City, is accused of misdemeanours against eleven boys. The incidents are said to have occurred between 1979 and 1990.
The court is currently examining further cases so that a final judgment has not yet been reached.
Bennell did not appear in person before the court on Tuesday because of illness and was called in live. He had previously been convicted of various sexual offences in the United States and Great Britain.
