Uru fans ridiculed Chapecoense: Tough punishment
The fans of Uruguay’s soccer record holder Nacional Montevideo take a pious joke with Brazil’s Chapecoense. The bandage imposes harsh punishments.
Uruguay’s football record holder Nacional Montevideo will have to manage his next three matches in the Copa Libertadores without the support of his fans.
The South American association Conmebol imposed this penalty after some Montevideo supporters made a pious joke in the Nacional Copa Libertadores qualifying game at Chapecoense in Brazil by imitating the noise of an aircraft.
By 2016, almost the entire Chapecoense crew had been killed in a plane crash. A total of 71 people died, only six survived.
After this scandal at the end of January, the Brazilians had demanded that the Uruguayan club be banned from continental competition.
The association based in Asuncion, Paraguay, did not meet this requirement but imposed an additional fine of 65,000 euros on Nacional.
