Now it’s official: Superstar Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain has to be operated on his damaged foot and will definitely be out for the Champions League’s return leg in a week against Real Madrid.
His club announced on Wednesday evening on their homepage:”In agreement with the player, it was decided that Neymar will undergo an operation in Brazil at the end of the week. The procedure is performed by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar.”
Neymar’s father had already told ESPN Brasil that the attacking player would miss “six to eight weeks”:”At PSG, they know they can’t bet on Neymar for the upcoming games.”
PSG coach Unai Emery had hoped until the end of the match and had not yet ruled out the possibility of his 222-million-euro man’s action against Madrid:”We’ll see how things will develop in the next few days.
Neymar had suffered a sprain in the right ankle and a hairline fracture in the outer metatarsal bone during Sunday’s league match against Olympique Marseille (3:0).
