Daum recommends own discharge
Update The Romanian Football Association reacts to the early end of the World Cup qualification and decides to part with coach Christoph Daum. The days of Christoph Daum as Romania’s national coach are numbered, and the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) announced on its website on Monday that the Technical Committee voted to dissolve Daum’s contract. The final decision on Daum’s future will be made by the association’s presidency, which will have to endorse the Technical Committee’s proposal at its next meeting:”Following the Technical Committee’s proposal, I will start negotiations on the dissolution of Mr. Daum’s contract and then negotiate the appointment of a new coach, as proposed by the Chairman of the Technical Committee,” said FRF President Razvan Burleanu. Last Monday’s 1-0 win in Montenegro sealed Romania’s early qualifying exit, with Romania scoring only three victories in ten games under his direction. Most recently, the 63-year-old was increasingly criticized in the Romanian media.
