World champion Lukas Podolski and his club Vissel Kobe celebrated their first victory after five league games in a row without victory. 32-year-old Vissel Kobe’s team won on 25th January. The Japanese J-League 2-1 (2-0) at Gamba Osaka, Kobe’s first win under interim coach Takayuki Yoshida. Having failed to win two league matches after the change of coaches, Podolski had a 16-metre chance in the first half of the match against Osaka, but missed out on guest goalkeeper Masaaki Higashiguchi. Kobe is currently ranked eleventh out of 18 teams with 33 points.
