It was one of the curiosities of the Champions League final: Real Madrid ran in purple outfits for 90 minutes at the final match against Juventus Turin in Cardiff, standing on the pitch for 90 minutes, wearing white jerseys at the ceremony, to the amazement of many spectators. Europe’s football federation had assigned the “home right” to Juventus Turin at the Cardiff final, who ran in their black and white home jerseys, forcing Real to switch to a different coloured jersey.
