Next setback for Bamberg – ALBA wins thriller
ALBA Berlin remains the team of the hour at BBL and also wins the series championship Bamberg. For the Francs, the late defeat is the next setback.
Series champion Brose Bamberg simply can’t get going in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
The Upper Franconians lost to Alba Berlin at home with 75:77 (42:33) in the top game. While the capital club regained the lead of the standings, it was the third defeat for Bamberg in their sixth game of the season.
With a record of 6:6 points, the Bambergers, champions in seven of the past eight years, continue to be mediocre. Berlin (14:2) has already finished eight points more at the top, but also two more games.
With two victories in the EuroLeague this week, Bamberg seemed to have initiated the trend.
After a strong first half, Bamberg was able to put up with the strain of three games in five days, but he was out of breath. The best thrower in the championship was newcomer Dorell Wright with 18 points, Spencer Butterfield and Luke Sikma with 13 points in Alba.
The MHP giant Ludwigsburg made it to third place. With the 78:64 (39:34) at Science City Jena, the Swabians scored their fifth victory in the sixth game.
