Bamberg achieves coup against Athens
The defeat series is over. Brose Bamberg boosts the league’s self-confidence with a convincing victory in the EuroLeague.
The German champion Brose Bamberg made amends to the home crowd for his less convincing performances and boosted his self-confidence for the league duel at ALBA Berlin on Sunday.
The 21st. After a surprising 95:74 (42:32) win against the Greek champion Panathinaikos Athens, the team from Bamberg celebrated their first match of the EuroLeague.
After two defeats in the EuroLeague, the cup and the bitter defeat in the Bundesliga at the Telekom Baskets Bonn (69:106) last Sunday, it was the first success for the hosts after last four defeats in series.
Bamberg advanced to twelfth place in the standings with eight victories and 13 defeats.
Against the favourites from Greece Bamberg was particularly convincing in the final phase. In the last quarter the Franken scored 38 points, best thrower for Bamberg was Augustine Rubit with 26 points.
