NBA-Star has to cancel dark contest
The Slam Dunk Contest will take place without Aaron Gordon. The forward is cancelled because of an injury. Apparently, however, top-class replacements have already been found.
The spectacular Slam Dunk Contest at the NBA All-Star-Weekend is one of the lesser attractions.
Due to a hip injury, Aaron Gordon has to forego not only the next games of the Orlando Magic, but also the Dunk Contest.
Gordon played a major role in making history as one of the best Dunking competitions of all time in 2016.
In an epic duel, the 22-year-old forward was defeated by defending champion Zach LaVine.
However, top-class replacement has apparently already been found: as NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports, Rookie Donovan Mitchell is to be nominated by Utah Jazz.
This would lead to a duel of super-rookies in the Slam Dunk contest, as Dirk Nowitzki’s team mate at the Dallas Mavericks, Dennis Smith Jr. is also in the team.
In addition to the two rookies, Pacers star Victor Oladipo and Larry Nance Jr. Glenn Robinson III will not defend his title against it.
