Schröder buys himself from salary
According to media reports, NBA star Dennis Schröder will become majority owner of his home club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig. The NBA-Star pursues ambitious goals.
NBA star Dennis Schröder (24) apparently becomes majority owner of his home club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig.
As the Braunschweiger Zeitung and SPONSORs reported on Tuesday, the national player is to become majority shareholder of Löwen GmbH.
Atlanta Hawks’ top scorer is to buy Staake Investment’s shares and also contribute EUR 150,000 to the total equity capital of EUR 250,000 needed in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) next season.
On Tuesday morning, no one could be contacted at the Braunschweig office for a statement.
Schröder had already announced in mid-February, during a visit to his home country on the fringes of a game of the lions, that he wanted to buy the club.
“We definitely want to build a top-five team here in Germany. This is my dream, because I come from Brunswick. We will definitely work on this,”said Schröder at the time at Telekom Sport.
Schröder completes his fifth NBA season at the Hawks. Atlanta, the final contender for the Eastern Conference, currently has only 18 wins after 61 games. On Monday, Atlanta defeated Los Angeles Lakers for the fourth time in a row.
