After referees’ criticism: fine for Celtics star
Marcus Smart is publicly grumbling about the referees’ performance after his defeat against the Houston Rockets. The NBA is asking the Celtics star to pay for it.
Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics has to dig deep into his pocket for his criticism of the referee’s performance in the game against the Houston Rockets.
“If you’re playing against someone like James Harden, who always gets his calls, you’ve always had a foul trouble,”Smart complained after the Rockets’ defeat at the Boston Globe.
The 24-year-old now has to pay a fine of $15,000 for this statement. This was announced by the League in a statement.

“You have to be very careful and you can’t play your normal defense because you know that he will get nine out of ten calls,”Smart said in the interview.
“It doesn’t matter whether your hand is up or down. He gets the calls. We have seen it today and we see it again and again. He’s always holding us, pulling us to him and getting the fouls. He’s been doing this for years and getting away with it.”
Harden was awarded 13 free throws against Celtics and finished the game with 26 points.
