Mavs scandal: Nowitzki’s boss also suspected
The scandal at the Dallas Mavericks seems to be spreading. Mavs owner Mark Cuban is now also suspected. The person concerned vehemently defends himself.
A few weeks after the Dallas Maverick scandal of alleged sexual harassment came to light, club boss Mark Cuban is caught up with his past. Reports have been published in the US media that Superstar Dirk Nowitzki’s boss was interrogated by police in 2011 for alleged abuse of a woman.
Cuban denies the allegations:”This never happened,”the billionaire told the daily Dallas Morning News,”The police investigator and the plaintiff are of the opinion that there is no hard evidence for the allegations,”Cuban said. The alleged victim therefore did not have the matter prosecuted.
At the end of April 2011, just a few weeks before the first and still the only title win of the franchise, Cuban had visited the nightclub “Barrel Room” after a play-off game of the Mavericks in Portland. A female guest was photographed with the club boss, and her Cuban is said to have reached into the crotch under her underwear.
In May, the woman contacted the police and Cuban was interrogated by telephone. The weekly newspaper Willamette Week from Portland published a transcript of the conversation. Cuban vehemently denies the allegations. To this day, he remains with his version.
More than a dozen current and former members of the Mavericks staff had recently gone public and described the club’s working atmosphere as poisoned. The accusations of sexual harassment have also been made,”It’s making my stomach ache,”Cuban said at the time. Nowitzki was “disgusted”.
