Vettel replaces sick Raikkonen
Ferrari has to change drivers at the Formula 1 test drives on Wednesday. Sebastian Vettel is used for the sick Kimi Räikkönen.
But not a day off for Sebastian Vettel: Because his team mate Kimi Räikkönen (Finland) felt uncomfortable on Wednesday morning, the four-time World Champion from Heppenheim did Ferrari’s test drives on the Circuit de Catalunya. As planned, Vettel would not have taken his turn again until Thursday.
At the gates of Barcelona, the runner-up World Champion, who had scored the fastest time of the day in 1:20.396 minutes on Tuesday, measured himself with the reigning Champion Lewis Hamilton (England/Mercedes) at least in the morning. The Englishman hands over the Mercedes to his Finnish team mate Valtteri Bottas after four and a half hours at noon.
Renault will also be running job-sharing on Wednesday: Nico Hülkenberg from Emmerich will take over the RS18 from the Spaniard Carlos Sainz junior at the half time of the test day.
The pilots also enjoyed bright sunshine on Wednesday mornings. The forecasts for the rest of the day are favourable. Unlike the day before, there should be no lunch break, which means that the route is open from 9 am to 6 pm.
