Successor for van Marwijk found
Bert van Marwijk coaches the Australian national team at the World Cup in Russia. The successor has already been appointed for the period after that.
The Australian Football Association FFA has raised the question of coaches for the national team for the time after the World Cup in Russia (14. June to 15. July) answered. Graham Arnold, 54 years old, will take over from Bert van Marwijk after the finals.
The former Bundesliga coach van Marwijk took over the Socceroos in January. The 65-year-old followed Ange Postecoglou, who resigned after the successful World Cup play-offs against Honduras in November. However, the commitment of the Dutch is limited to five months.
The Australian Arnold has worked as an assistant coach and interim coach for the national team in the past. Arnold is currently still in charge of the first division club FC Sydney. His contract with the federation runs until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
