Mama Williams wins the comeback
After her baby break, Serena Williams wins against an outsider and is in the second round. A German player also wins his opening game in Indian Wells.
Former tennis world number one Serena Williams made a splendid comeback after the baby break. At the prestigious WTA tournament in Indian Wells, the 23-times Grand Slam winner defeated Kazakhstan’s Sarina Dijas 7-5,6-3 and easily made it to the second round.
There Williams will meet the Dutch woman Kiki Bertens on Saturday.
“To all the women out there, I wish you a good woman’s day. I was so excited to play that night. It should be like this,”Williams said after the 92-minute match in the night to Friday. The US-American, who is facing a duel with sister Venus in the last sixteen, impressed with 34 wins.
