Zverev continues to fight in Indian Wells
Mischa Zverev is on the next round of the ATP tournament in Indian Wells. The hamburger wins against a Kazakhs.
Mischa Zverev is the fourth German tennis pro in the second round of the prestigious ATP tournament in Indian Wells, California. The Hamburg native prevailed against Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin on Saturday night and converted his first match point after 2:09 hours to 6:3,4:6,6:1. Zverev’s next opponent is 18 seeded American Sam Querrey, last year’s semi-finalist in Wimbledon.
Previously, Zverev’s colleagues Jan-Lennard Struff and Peter Gojowczyk had failed at the opening hurdle. Davis Cup player Struff had to admit defeat to the Australian hope Alex de Minaur with 6:3,6:7 (3:7), 6:7 (5:7), Delray Beach finalist Gojowczyk lost 4:6,4:6 against Israeli Dudi Sela.
In addition to Mischa Zverev, his brother Alexander Zverev and Philipp Kohlschreiber (no. 31) and Maximilian Torterer, who had been seeded four times, are still in the second round.
