After referee scolding: Besiktas star threatens prison

Turkish international Caner Erkin of first division team Besiktas Istanbul is facing a jail sentence for insulting referees, according to a media report.
According to the news agency Anadolu, the prosecutor’s office in Istanbul has charged Erkin with insulting a person responsible for maintaining public order and is demanding a prison sentence of between one and two years.
The incident occurred last October in the game between Besiktas and Basaksehir. Erkin allegedly insulted the referee after a yellow card. Erkin rejects the accusations. The trial is due to begin in the next few days.
