Megacontract with Vikings: Cousins becomes NFL Croesus
Quarterback Kirk Cousins is about to sign a contract with the Minnesota Vikings. These make him the best paid player in NFL history.
The most coveted quarterback on the market is about to make a decision, as NFL insiders agree, and Kirk Cousins will be the first team to visit Minnesota Vikings. They are to offer him 28 million a year guaranteed for three years. If the direct conversation goes well, the ex-Redskin could choose the current NFC-vice.
ESPN insider Adam Shefter leans out of the window: cousins will be signed in Minnesota on Thursday. This was subsequently reported by other US media.
If the fully guaranteed $28 million per annum in cousins votes, he will overtake Jimmy Garoppolo (average 27.5 million) on the annual salary of San Francisco young star Jimmy Garoppolo, making him the best paid player in NFL history.
The 29-year-old’s last appearance at the Redskins saw more than 4,000 passyards three times in a row, but he only brought Washington into the playoffs once as a starter and there without victories – in the decisive games he often suffered expensive ball losses. The Redskins had never wanted to guarantee him such a high annual salary.
