PAOK President apologizes for weapons incident
PAOK President Ivan Savvidis rushed towards the referee on Sunday with a weapon. Now he apologizes for his scandalous behaviour.
The president of the Greek cup winner PAOK Saloniki apologized for his scandalous behaviour at the game against AEK Athens,”I’m really sorry for what happened. I had no right to enter the field in this way,”said Ivan Savvidis in a statement on Tuesday. He stressed, however, that he was only trying to prevent the outbreak of violence.
The Greek-Russian businessman had rushed towards the referee on Sunday after a controversial referee’s decision with a pistol on his belt. The meeting was then broken off. On Monday the Greek government decided to suspend the domestic championship for the time being.
