No chance: Kerber goes down against young Russian woman
Angelique Kerber loses to Darja Kassatkina in the quarter-finals of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells. The German doesn’t get into the game right from the start.
Two-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber failed in the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells tennis tournament.
The Australian Open semi-finalist lost to 20 seeded Russian Darja Kassatkina 0-6, 2-6 on Thursday after a very weak performance and thus missed the chance of her second tournament victory of the season.
“It will be another long match with many long rallies,” Kerber had guessed – she was wrong.
Especially in the first set nothing worked out for the Kieler. She only won three points on her own serve, after 21 minutes the round was over. In the whole match Kerber, tournament winner in Sydney at the beginning of the year, did not win a break point.
