Klopps advantages in the CL duel against Guardiola
In the Champions League, Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola are once again in a duel. The Liverpool coach is annoyed – but he has statistical advantages.
The Champions League quarter-final sensation is undoubtedly the English summit between Liverpool FC and Manchester City. Or also: A new chapter in the duel between the two super coaches Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
Klopp has now defeated Guardiola in four different competitions (Bundesliga, DFB Cup, DFL Supercup, Premier League) – something no other coach has managed to do so far.
Klopp is also ahead in the duel with Manchester City. Four victories face four draws and one defeat – but it was a 5-0 draw (see below).
Nevertheless, the German coach’s enthusiasm was limited after the lots were drawn:”It is indeed a dreamless one… But I have Begiristains (City Sports Director Txiki Begiristain, d. R.) and it didn’t seem like he was thinking about Christmas.”
Begiristain had previously praised Liverpool: “We know their power well. They beat us last in Liverpool. “We’ll play almost perfectly if we want to reach the semi-finals.”
Klopp could still see one advantage:”It was clear that we would face a strong opponent. The good news is that the Citizens are the team we know best among the top eight.”
His militant call:”It’s exactly the same as in the round before. We’ll take what we get. Now it’s Manchester City, so let’s go.”
