“Kick-off for breakfast”: Klopp rages against schedule
Liverpool are back in the league just 60 hours after the Champion League duel against ManCity. That really upsets trainer Jürgen Klopp.
Jürgen Klopp had just digested the smashing lot in the Champions League, when the next shock struck him.
Just three days after the first leg of the quarter-finals against Manchester City, his Liverpool FC has to beat Watford FC in the Premier League.
Not at the usual time of late Saturday afternoon, but five hours earlier at 12.30 pm. Only 60 hours after the knockout match. This date was announced by the English league association on Friday.
For Klopp, the approach is absurd:”I know countries that play different games so that the teams can compete in the right form. Whoever made this match schedule didn’t think we would make it to the quarter-finals,” the German coach shouted.
“Can you imagine the difference in these five hours?” said Klopp.”In terms of preparation and recreation, it means the world.”
A reporter asked Klopp if he would like to postpone the game. His answer:”Put it on at the normal time and not for breakfast!”
