Ferrari star Vettel reveals the name of his new car
His last two Ferrari cars were called Margherita and Gina. Shortly before the start of the season Sebastian Vettel now reveals the name of his new speedster.
Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has named his Ferrari racing car “Loria” (from Latin “Laurus” = “laurel wreath”) for the new season. This was confirmed by Vettel’s spokeswoman.
Traditionally, the name is found at a team dinner on Wednesday before the opening race in Melbourne, Australia (Sunday, 7.10 a.m. in LIVETICKER). Loria, a variation of the women’s name Laura, succeeds Gina, with whom Vettel won five races last year and finished second in the World Championship. Wentel’s first Ferrari 2015 was called Eva (three Grand Prix victories), the victorless 2016 car was christened Margherita.
Already at Red Bull, Vettel had always given his cars women’s names before the start of the season. But they had wilder names like “Kinky Kylie” or “Hungry Heidi”.
