Howard with historic double-double
Hornets Center Dwight Howard enters his name in the NBA history books. Against the Nets he manages a historic game with 30 points and 30 rebounds.
What an evening for Dwight Howard! The Center of the Charlotte Hornets has entered itself in the NBA history books with its double double against the Brooklyn Nets.
Thanks to a rebound in the final seconds of the 111:105 win over the Nets, Howard scored 32 points and 30 rebounds.
This makes him the first player since 2010 and only the second in the last 36 years to win a 30-30 game (NBA schedule and results).
Altogether only eight players managed this trick. The last one was Kevin Love when he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2010. At that time, he scored 31 points and 31 rebounds to win against the New York Knicks.

On Twitter, Love, who now plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, congratulated the new “Mr. 30/30”.
With his mega-performance Howard Charlotte, who was already 23 points behind, helped him to victory.
“I’ve never been to anything like this before,” said Howard’s teammate Kemba Walker. Yes, it was incredible to see those numbers and be a part of them. That was crazy.”
Curiously, the trigger for Howard’s historic night was a text message from a friend: “I got a message from someone halfway through and it somehow motivated me and gave me new energy,” explained the Hornets Center.
