Vettel confident before start of season
Before the start of the season in Melbourne, Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel is confident. But he sees the favorite role on Sunday with someone else.
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel thinks he and his Ferrari team are in good shape before the start of the new Formula 1 season.
“We have every reason to be confident,” said the 30-year-old on Thursday at the Australian Grand Prix press conference in Melbourne (Sunday, 7.10 a.m. in LIVETICKER). However, no team yet knew where the others were.
After the impressions of the tests Ferrari was “in good shape, but we could be in better shape”, explained the native Heppenheimer, who presented himself on Thursday with unusually short hair under the temples and in the neck.
Vettel gave the world champion team Mercedes and the four-time champion Lewis Hamilton (England) the role of the favourites: “Lewis has been doing a great job for many years. Much must come together for us to fight for the championship,” but it is “something special to win against the best. And Lewis is one of them.”
Last year, Vettel won the race at Melbourne’s Albert Park and maintained his World Championship lead until early September, before an accident and a technical defect wiped out almost all chances within a few weeks.
