Bauermann leaves Würzburg in summer
Coach Dirk Bauermann and Würzburg go their separate ways at the end of the season. According to the association, it is the wish of the 57-year-old. There is no successor yet.
Coach Dirk Bauermann will leave the basketball Bundesliga team s.Oliver Würzburg this summer.
This was confirmed by the club on Sunday evening. Both sides had “agreed by mutual agreement and in great mutual respect to cancel the contract at the end of the season,” according to the club’s announcement.
“After intensive discussions with Dirk Bauermann, we decided, in consultation with the shareholder and our advisory board, to comply with his wishes and not to put any obstacles in his way.
We will not comment on speculations about a possible successor”, the two managing directors Steffen Liebler and Gunars Balodis from Würzburg were quoted.
The 57-year-old builder held the chief position in Würzburg on 31 March. December 2016. The team is currently fighting for qualification for the play-offs in the Bundesliga. After the defeat against ratiopharm Ulm (74:91) on Saturday, the Würzburg team is in tenth place.
“We’re still in the middle of the fight for a play-off spot and still have every chance of being among the top eight teams in the league at the beginning of May. Together with Dirk Bauermann, we are fully focused on achieving our sporting goals until the end of the season,” said Liebler and Balodis.
