Bavaria’s series tears in top game
Setback for Bayern Munich: The leader of the standings went bankrupt against ALBA Berlin in the top match. After the EuroCup out the forces are dwindling.
Two days after the end of the EuroCup, the Bundesliga series of basketball players from Bayern Munich is torn.
In the top match against ALBA Berlin, the previously sovereign leader of the standings was clearly defeated by 72:91 (39:34) and dropped out of the field again as loser after 20 victories in a row. ALBA took revenge for their defeat in the cup final in February and can once again dream of winning the main round.
However, the Bavarians (46:4 points) still lie after 25th place. still comfortably ahead of the Berliners (42:8), who celebrated their eleventh consecutive victory.
Third are the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (42:10) ahead of the EWE Baskets Oldenburg (34:18), who won the rival duel at medi Bayreuth (32:18) with 102:98 (51:44) on Saturday.
In the first quarter against ALBA, the Bavarians reacted to their two bitter defeats against Darüssafaka Istanbul, leading by 13 points. After that, however, the powers dwindled.
Peyton Siva (16), Joshiko Saibou and Luke Sikma (14 each) were the most successful Berlin shooters. Jared Cunningham and Devin Booker (11 each) scored the most points with the Munich team.
Already on Saturday the former vice champion ratiopharm Ulm managed an important victory in the fight for the play-offs. The team of coach Thorsten Leibenath prevailed over direct opponent s.Oliver Würzburg 91:74 (43:33) and is still within striking distance of eighth place with 28:22 points, which qualifies for the final round.
On Sunday, the Frankfurt Skyliners also won the Telekom Baskets Bonn 79:75 (27:40).
