The Cologne team started furiously in the first third. Already in the first minute of the game Blair Jones had a huge chance to take the Cologne lead. But Nuremberg keeper Treutle parried strongly.
Both teams pressed the accelerator and kept the pace high. So there were some chances to score on both sides. But Philipp Gogulla failed for the sharks as well (6th) as Nuremberg’s silver medal winner Yasin Ehliz directly in return.

The sharks responded with angry attacks, but too often the Rhinelanders gave away their opportunities with weak performances in a promising position.
The second third started with a Cologne urge phase. But right in the middle of the attack efforts of the Domstdter the free played Ehliz with a shot from the right side into the short corner provided for the cold shower.
“Especially in the second third, we made the most of our chances,” said Ehliz after the match at Telekom Sport: “This is a high score, but the Cologne team fought brutally,” the international paid tribute to his opponent.
Cologne did not give up despite the 0:2 deficit. Only two minutes later Sebastian Uvira scored the deserved 1:2 connection goal.
There was hope again for the Cologne annex, but a double strike by Dane Fox (37th) and John Mitchell (39th) suffocated them within only two minutes.
With a 1:4 the Rhinelanders went into the final third. There, the ripped Nuremberg team did not let anything burn any more and brought the victory confidently over time. Leonhard Pföderl provided with an Empty Net Goal for the 5:1 final score.
