PSG starts talks with Conte
PSG intensifies the search for a successor for Unai Emery. Talks with dream trainer Antonio Conte. But he’s not the only candidate.
The days of Unai Emery as coach of Paris Saint-Germain are apparently numbered, as the plans for his succession are becoming more concrete.
As the Guardian reports, PSG officials have begun talks with representatives of Antonio Conte to convince the current coach of Chelsea FC to move to the French capital this summer.
Conte is therefore one of four candidates on PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s list. Besides Conte, the focus is on Jose Mourinho, Diego Simeone and Massimiliano Allegri.
According to Le Parisien, Jürgen Klopp was also considered a potential PSG coach. They don’t know anything about it on Klopp’s side. There was nothing to the report, explained Klopp’s consultant Marc Kosicke at SPORT1.
The 48-year-old Conte, who won the English blues championship in 2017, is considered the first choice. PSG is to offer the Italian, who trained the Squadra Azzurra before his engagement in London, an annual salary of £10 million (equivalent to around €11.4 million). At Chelsea, Conte has earned £9.5 million (€10.9 million) so far.
Currently Conte and Chelsea are only in a disappointing fifth place, in the Champions League the Londoners failed due to FC Barcelona. Conte still has a contract until 2019, but next month the club is supposed to decide whether he still has a future in the blues.
