Curious: Sponsor your own round in the USA
Gateway Motorsports Park is breaking new ground in its search for new sources of income: anyone can sponsor whole rounds for a small fee.
Sponsoring in motorsport is usually a business reserved for large companies. It goes without saying that this is constantly being expanded. For example, for a while there were “Jim Beam Battle Packs” in Australia that generated a “Rexona Pressure Moment”. In the USA, people are no less creative and can sponsor onboard cameras. In Formula 1, a German logistics company awards millions for fast pit stops or fastest laps. The Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Gallen. But Louis is now taking a whole new path: anyone can sponsor a round for $100.
The Lap Sponsorship program at the Madison circuit in Illinois allows every fan to name a lap at the NASCAR Truck Series and IndyCar Series races – be it his own, the name of a presentee, or his own company. For example, there is the “Lieschen-Müller-Runde 168”. The NASCAR truck race goes over 180 laps, the IndyCar race over 248. So there is potentially $428,000 on the table for the route operator.
“This simple sponsorship program allows you to become a partner without having to dig too deep into your pocket,” says race track managing director Chris Blair: “You can use a sponsored round to promote your own business, highlight your favorite driver’s starting number or to honor a friend.
The package the customer receives: a souvenir and a reminder card, a mention on the race track’s social media channels and website, the desired name on the tower showing the positions, access to activities reserved for sponsors, and a mention by the track spokesperson.
Gateway Motorsports Park was included back in the IndyCar calendar in 2017 – allegedly for a not inconsiderable starting fee. The NASCAR truck race will take place on 23. June, the IndyCar race on 25. August 2018.
