After playoff-out: sharks sort out primitive rocks
Philipp Gogulla no longer plays a role in the planning of the Cologne sharks. Despite a current contract, the DEL club separates from the striker.
The Cologne sharks have eliminated Philip Gogulla (30) from the playoff quarter-finals of the German Ice Hockey League (LIVE on TV on SPORT1).
According to the club, Gogulla will not be included in the sports plans for the new season until 2019, despite a contract. After Christian Ehrhoff’s career, another long-time German international is on the brink of extinction.
“Philip Gogulla is out. It no longer plays a role in our planning. We have reached an agreement that it is better for both sides to go their separate ways,” KEC trainer Peter Draisaitl was quoted by Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger on Tuesday. Gogulla has played for Cologne since 2004, with the exception of a short US engagement.
Like Gogulla, German Canadian Dylan Wruck can look for a new club by 2019 despite a contract. Whether the attackers Justin Shugg and Jean-Francois Boucher have a future with the Cologne sharks has not yet been decided. The sharks had failed in the play-offs with 2:4 to the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.
