Batshuayi hangs up: Belgium beat Egypt 3-0
In a test match between two World Cup participants, Belgium beat Egypt 3-0 in Brussels. While the Red Devils could rely on their stars, Mohamed Salah was sorely missed by the pharaohs.
The match started in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels without participation in the Bundesliga. On the Belgian side, however, Dortmund’s Michy Batshuayi and Gladbach’s Thorgan Hazard were sitting on the bench. Captain Vincent Kompany (ManCity), on the other hand, was missing. As expected, the Egyptians had to give up their superstar Salah, the Liverpool legionary is still curing his shoulder injury, which he suffered in the Champions League final against Real Madrid (1:3).
Belgium were the more active team in the first 45 minutes, had more ball possession, visual advantages and also the majority of chances. Little of Egypt was to be seen at first, the absence of Salah in the offensive became apparent. Egypt goalkeeper El-Hadary had to rebound a shot from Eden Hazard (Chelsea) in the 27th minute, Lukaku (ManUnited) was on the spot to collect dust. In the 38th minute Hazard did it himself after Carassco (Dalian) had presented it. The Belgians were also unlucky when De Bruyne fell in the Egyptian penalty area in the 34th minute, but the referee’s whistle remained silent.
