Alexis Sanchez is not allowed to go to the USA with ManUnited for the time being.
While most of the team in the USA are preparing for the new season, Alexis Sanchez has to work hard in Manchester. The Chilean was denied entry for the time being.
José Mourinho has taken seven young players to the United States, including 16-year-old Mason Greenwood and 17-year-old James Garner. A total of five test matches are scheduled for the English runners-up until the end of the month, the first one on Friday night against the traditional Mexican club Club America.
Not one of the twelve World Cup riders has flown, which is why Mourinho is already assuming that no one will be ready in time for the Premier League opener against Leicester City on 10 August. “This is a disgrace to the most important club competition in Europe.”
Lucky for the United coach that Chile did not qualify for the tournament in Russia and Alexis Sanchez got enough time to recover. But now it set a setback also for the offensive man: Because Sanchez during his time at FC Barcelona is said to have channelled almost one million euros of tax money past the Spanish treasury, he had been sentenced in February to 16 months in prison and a fine of 590,000 euros.
As in Sanchez’s case, prison sentences of less than two years for the unencumbered in Spain rarely reflect the actual course behind bars, yet the verdict is now catching up with him. Because the 29-year-old did not receive a visa for the 15-day trip from the USA due to the previous conviction; the club hopes that Sanchez might still be able to comply.
ManUnited will also play MLS club San Jose Earthquakes in the United States and Milan, Liverpool and Champions League winner Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
