“It clicks at the moment”: Zibanejad show in Newark
Mika Zibanejad, Chis Kreider and Mats Zuccarello – the noble line of the Rangers left their mark on the game at the Devils and underlined the play-off ambitions of the Big Blue. The Swede Zibanejad took his second hat-trick in the NHL and crowned his performance with the decisive goal to a 4-3 victory 4-36 minutes before the final siren. The 25-year-old had already equalised a 0:2 deficit of the visitors with a double pack.
The Rangers claimed their fifth victory in the last seven games and are “only” eight points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race.
“We can’t look at the table too often,” said Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist (19 saves), like Zibanejad from Sweden. “We have to see every game as an opportunity to get better. Then we’ll see where we end up.
Zibanejad not only scored three times, he also hung up at the gate of Kreider. Zuccarello prepared three goals, including a backhand pass before 4-3. The line scored a total of eight points that evening, 31 in the last six games. “It’s clicking right now, it’s good that ‘Zuc’ is back – I’m super happy,” said Zibanejad, who took the 20 goal hurdle.
