Doncic pulls it out: Famous catch-up chase of the Mavs
For a long time the Dallas Mavericks were lagging behind, but in the end they were able to celebrate a win against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Los Angeles Lakers, however, were shown their limits by the 76ers.
For most of the game, the Texans were lagging behind, but in the last quarter they finally turned the tide as they made up an interim 15-point gap. Dirk Nowitzki (40) didn’t play much of a role, he only managed three points and three rebounds in the end. His compatriot Maxi Kleber was in the starting five and scored nine points and four rebounds.
But the outstanding player of the Mavs was once again shooting star Luka Doncic. The young Slovenian scored 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists. It was also Doncic who took responsibility in the final phase and brought Dallas decisively into the lead (102:99) with a four-point game (successful threesome plus free-throw). The Trail Blazers then shortened by CJ McCollum – but nothing more. The top scorer of the match was Damian Lillard with 30 points for Portland.
The victory keeps the Mavs in the race for the play-off places. They are currently ranked eleventh in the West with 26 wins. The Los Angeles Clippers (31:26) occupy eighth place, which entitles them to participate in the play-offs.
Embiid leads Philly to victory
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers delivered an open exchange of blows. The Sixers finally prevailed with 143:120 and were largely due to Joel Embiid. The center shone with 37 points and 14 rebounds. Kyle Kuzma, who was also the best thrower of the game, collected two more points at the Lakers. Superstar LeBron James only scored 18 points.
