Elfyn Evans took over the win at the Arctic Lapland Rally after Kalle Rovanpera encountered a technical issue with his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1. Toyota Gazoo Racing saw this event as an opportunity to gather valuable data for the upcoming WRC Rally Sweden. The conditions varied throughout the rally, with a sunny day on Friday and a snowstorm on Saturday. Despite Rovanpera’s dominant performance, his retirement allowed Evans to claim victory. Evans faced some challenges with his adjustments on the first day but felt more satisfied with his performance on Saturday, despite the extreme conditions. While Evans acknowledged the importance of participating in the Arctic Lapland Rally, he recognized that there is still much work to be done before Rally Sweden. Toyota’s team manager, Jari-Matti Latvala, also faced technical problems and received a time penalty for missing a time check station.
