Sergio Perez has secured a contract extension with Red Bull Racing, ensuring his presence in the team until the end of 2026. The Mexican driver expressed relief after settling the negotiations, stating that it has allowed him to be more at ease. Despite his recent struggles in scoring points, Perez’s extension dismisses any speculation about other drivers taking his place.
The distractions caused by the contract talks had affected Perez’s performance, but now he can fully focus on delivering strong results for Red Bull. Although he has achieved four podium finishes this season, Perez currently sits fifth in the driver’s championship. The upcoming Spanish Grand Prix presents an opportunity for him to prove himself and justify his new contract.
In a surprising move, Red Bull Racing has terminated the contract of their junior driver, Kacper Szutka, after just four races in the Formula 3 championship. Szutka, who previously competed in the Italian F4 Championship, failed to impress with only six points across four rounds. Despite his underwhelming performances, Szutka had the support of his long-time sponsor, PKN Orlen, and was part of the Akademii Orlen line-up.
Red Bull Racing will now continue their F3 campaign with a different lineup. They will rely on the talents of drivers who have been with the team since 2021, as well as those who joined in 2023. These three drivers will strive to showcase their abilities and contribute valuable points to the team’s championship aspirations.
