The Ferrari Formula 1 team has only accumulated 18 points since their impressive victory in Monaco. Charles Leclerc, a driver for Scuderia Ferrari, has spoken out following the team’s lackluster performance in Barcelona. Despite engaging in tough battles with their opponents, Ferrari finished the race in fifth and sixth place, failing to improve on their starting positions.
During the Spanish Grand Prix, Ferrari was the slowest team compared to Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes, resulting in them missing out on podium finishes for the second consecutive race. Since their remarkable triumph in Monaco, the esteemed motorsport giants have only managed to score 18 points, placing them just behind McLaren in the constructors championship.
Charles Leclerc acknowledged that the team encountered significant difficulties navigating the medium-to-high-speed corners at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, despite introducing new upgrades to the car. Leclerc emphasized that these ongoing issues with Ferrari cannot be immediately resolved and will require time and dedication to find a solution.
Leclerc further expressed that the car’s problems with high and medium-speed corners have persisted since the race in Shanghai. It is crucial for these issues to be addressed promptly in order to rectify their precarious situation. Ferrari now heads into the Austrian Grand Prix with a desperate need for a victory or podium finishes to compensate for the points they lost in Montreal and Barcelona.
The boss of Ferrari, whose name has been omitted, shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming event, stating that his team will be intensely focused on scoring valuable points at the Red Bull Ring. Currently sitting in second place in the championship, the Maranello-based team trails the leaders, Red Bull, by 60 points.
Fred Vasseur, a representative of Ferrari, elaborated on the competitiveness of the top four teams on the grid, emphasizing that they are separated by less than three-tenths of a second. This tight margin increases the challenges faced in each race. Vasseur also highlighted that the margins will be even tighter in Spielberg, a track that can be completed in just over a minute.
In 2022, Ferrari emerged victorious in the Austrian Grand Prix thanks to an outstanding performance by Charles Leclerc, who outperformed Red Bull in every aspect. The Maranello-based team will be seeking to replicate that same level of mastery in the upcoming weekend as they strive for their third win of the season.
