Amid increasing pressure on Thomas Tuchel, Antonio Conte is said to be keen on becoming the manager of Bayern Munich. The German giants are facing a potential collapse in their season, having lost their last three games. They are currently trailing 1-0 in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 match against Lazio and are eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
As Bayern considers a change in the dugout, they are reportedly keeping tabs on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former manager of Manchester United, as well as Xabi Alonso and Hansi Flick. However, Tuchel appears to be holding onto his position.
According to Bild, Conte has expressed his desire to join Bayern, considering it to be his “dream club” and is interested in replacing Tuchel. The former manager of Chelsea and Tottenham has been without a job since leaving Spurs in March of last year. Alongside his four Italian titles with Juventus and Inter Milan, Conte also won the Premier League with Chelsea in the 2016-17 season.
If the Italian were to move to Bayern, it would reunite him with Harry Kane, with whom he previously worked at Spurs. Christian Falk of Bild also reports that Bayern is monitoring Flick, who played a crucial role in their historic treble win in 2020. Surprisingly, Sebastian Hoeness, the manager of Stuttgart, is also being considered as a potential successor to Tuchel.
While Tuchel currently has the support of Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, time is running out for the former Chelsea manager to turn things around. His Bayern team suffered a shocking 3-2 loss against VfL Bochum on Sunday, following a devastating defeat by Leverkusen in the league earlier this month.
