Lando Norris has been performing exceptionally well in the ongoing 2024 F1 season. The McLaren driver believes that his team has the ability to challenge Red Bull if they avoid any mistakes in the upcoming races. McLaren has been in impressive form this season and is one of the most convincing teams alongside Red Bull.
Currently, Red Bull is leading the championship with a 60-point advantage over Ferrari in second place. This has been achieved with the help of their three-time world champion driver, Max Verstappen. Despite facing tough competition from McLaren and Ferrari on certain occasions, Verstappen has won seven out of ten races this season.
Lando Norris acknowledges that his team needs to be at their best in order to challenge Verstappen’s dominance. He also recognizes that any mistakes from this point onwards will heavily impact McLaren’s chances as the title race intensifies.
During a media day, Norris stated, “We’re now at a level where everything has to be perfect. We’re up against one of the greatest drivers in F1, who is performing at an incredibly high level. Any imperfections, like my start, will come at a cost. It’s as simple as that.”
McLaren currently holds the third position in the championship and has narrowly missed out on potential victories in the last two races. The team is determined to give their all in the upcoming races in Spielberg and Silverstone, as these will play a crucial role in shaping their title chances this season.
Lando Norris has requested McLaren to introduce more upgrades to gain an advantage over Red Bull and Ferrari in the Spielberg race. McLaren has consistently performed well this season, finishing on the podium in the last six races.
Norris believes that McLaren has been very close to securing pole positions in recent races, which is a positive sign for the team. However, he also acknowledges that there are small aspects in which McLaren falls slightly behind Red Bull.
Despite facing tough competition from Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes, Norris has confidence in his team’s ability to come out on top. He states that the MCL38 is a strong contender on every track, regardless of any challenges they may encounter along the way.
