Title: KTM’s Shocking Decision Leaves Jack Miller Disillusioned
In a surprising turn of events, Jack Miller recently disclosed that KTM instructed him to keep quiet about a potential MotoGP move in 2025, only to later inform him that he would be dropped from the team. Miller’s uncertain position within KTM arose after Pedro Acosta’s impressive rookie season earned him a promotion to the factory team alongside Brad Binder.
Speculation had been circulating that Miller would be relegated to the satellite Tech3 GasGas outfit. However, just before the Dutch Grand Prix, KTM expressed their desire to retain him. Miller expressed his surprise at the sudden change, stating, “Last I heard was ‘don’t bother talking to anybody because we want to keep you in the family,’ and then you get a phone call three hours before the press release gets launched saying that you’re not getting a contract.”
Miller’s disappointment is palpable, as he had joined the KTM project with the intention of staying for the long haul. Leaving behind a highly competitive bike on the grid, he had hoped to contribute his expertise to the team’s development. Reflecting on his efforts, Miller remarked, “I feel like last year, what we were able to bring already to improve the bike to a certain level was a big addition.”
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Miller remains determined and focused on his future in MotoGP. The shocking decision by KTM has left him disillusioned, but he remains committed to his passion for the sport.
Miller has had a difficult season so far, only managing to accumulate 27 points in the first seven rounds. This has resulted in him currently sitting in 16th place in the standings.
KTM has made the decision to make changes to their lineup for the 2025 season. They have signed Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini to multi-term contracts.
Miller has revealed that he has other options available to him. There have been reports connecting him to Gresini Ducati, Honda, and possibly Pramac if a deal with Yamaha for an engine materializes.
“At this point, it’s all just talk,” Miller stated. “I need to consider what I want and what each project has to offer. The opportunity to join Ducati is very intriguing since I am familiar with the bike and the team structure. I have no doubt that I can quickly get back into the top five if I ride that bike. However, a lot of changes are happening in MotoGP in 2027. I want to find a long-term home where I can finish my last strong years in MotoGP and work towards a common goal. I thought we had that here, but it turns out we didn’t. So, that’s something I need to think about. Money is not the issue for me. It’s about what I want for my career.”
When asked about the possibility of becoming a test rider in MotoGP, Miller responded, “Right now, I can’t even consider that because I don’t see myself as a test rider. I enjoy racing too much. I don’t find the testing side of it exciting. I do it because I enjoy the work and because it helps me achieve my goals. But simply riding in circles on a motorcycle doesn’t excite me. I’m here to compete with 22 other bikes. Who knows what the future holds, but all I want to do is race.”
