will depart from Alpine immediately by the end of the 2024 season. As a result, this creates an opening on the team with uncertainty surrounding another individual’s contract. Alpine’s WEC driver is being considered as the top candidate for this vacancy. However, the recently fired Haas boss was heard speaking negatively about Schumacher’s chances at Alpine.
Mick Schumacher’s uncle Ralf Schumacher has responded to Guenther Steiner’s comments on the matter. Ralf referred to Steiner as a ‘close friend’ and expressed confusion over his senseless remarks. Additionally, the 48-year-old believed that the former Haas boss was opposed to Schumacher Jr.’s entry into Alpine.
In addition, Ralf Schumacher pointed out the uncertainties surrounding Mick Schumacher’s position at Alpine. The German emphasized that if the 25-year-old were to exceed expectations, it would reflect poorly on Guenther Steiner. Consequently, the 48-year-old criticized Steiner’s situation of being ousted from the Haas F1 team and questioned why the team is now performing better after the Italian’s departure.
Ralf Schumacher didn’t stop at just making comments. Mick’s uncle wholeheartedly supported and had faith in the young driver’s abilities to perform in Formula 1. The German did not hesitate to call out Steiner for his irritating remarks.
The 48-year-old stated that he would no longer appear together with the Italian on television. Additionally, Schumacher recalled the Bahrain GP where he stood alongside the fired Haas boss for the greater good. However, the German was ‘consistent’ in his assertion that he would never be seen with the 59-year-old again.
Therefore, this demonstrates that Mick Schumacher has a great opportunity to secure an F1 seat with Alpine thanks to the support he has. Schumacher Jr. was not given the best chances to perform during his time with Haas. As a result, a comeback with Alpine might just be the opportunity that the 25-year-old needs to excel in the pinnacle of motorsport.
