Oliver Rowland, the prominent Nissan racer, will not be participating in the upcoming Portland E-Prix due to his unfortunate state of ill health. This news was officially confirmed by his team on Friday. The English driver will be replaced by Caio Collet, who serves as the reserve and simulator driver for the team. Collet, a talented 22-year-old Brazilian, currently holds a commendable third position in the Drivers’ standings of the Indy NXT championship. Additionally, he secured a ninth-place finish in last year’s Formula Three campaign.
As a result of this setback, Rowland’s chances of contending for the championship title in the FIA Formula E standings have significantly diminished. Despite his remarkable performance throughout Season 10, which included several podium finishes and a victory in Misano, the British driver now finds himself at a disadvantage. This week, his hopes were further dashed when Antonio Felix da Costa’s disqualification appeal was rejected. However, there remains optimism that Rowland will swiftly recover and make a triumphant return for the season finale double-header London E-Prix, scheduled for July.
