Four car manufacturers are competing for the top spot at the Le Mans race with only 2 hours remaining: Porsche, Toyota, Ferrari, and Cadillac.
Miguel Molina is currently leading the race for Ferrari in the #50 Ferrari 499P. He has a 2-second advantage (after 22 hours of racing!) over the #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid driven by B Brendon Hartley, with Alessandro Pier Guidi in the sister #50 Ferrari in third place, trailing by an additional 12 seconds.
However, rain has started pouring down once again, forcing teams to make a decision between switching to wet tires or sticking with the slicks.
Alex Palou was in fourth position driving the #2 Cadillac V-Series.R. He had a different pit strategy than the others, planning to pit later. However, with the change to wet tires, they are now following the same strategy as the rest.
Both the #50 Ferrari and #8 Toyota, as well as the #51, made pit stops from their leading positions. Vanthoor in the #6 Porsche 963 decided to stay out and complete his 12-lap stint, briefly taking the lead before pitting for wet tires according to schedule.
As a result, Nielsen is now leading the race followed by teammate Pier Guidi, making it a Ferrari 1-2. Jose Maria Lopez is in third place driving the #7 Toyota, while Alexx Lynn is in fourth. The #6 Porsche driven by Laurens Vanthoor is in fifth position.
Brendon Hartley in the #8 Toyota is currently in sixth place. He was in second place but spun at the wet and slippery Mulsanne Corner, losing time as he maneuvered the car and resumed racing.
In the LMP2 class, Oliver Jarvis is leading in the #22 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson. He recently overtook Ben Barnicoat in the #183 AF Corse Oreca 07-Gibson, who had been leading the class for a long time. Jarvis currently has a 20-second advantage over Barnicoat, with Reshad de Gerus in the #28 IDEC Sport Oreca 07-Gibson in third place, trailing by an additional 2 seconds.
Lastly, Richard Lietz is leading in the LMGT3 class with the #91 Manthery EMA Porsche 911 GT3R. Sean Gelael is in second place driving the #31 WRT BMW M4 GT3, just seven seconds behind the leader. Mikkel Pedersen is in third place with the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang Gt3, but he is currently two and a half minutes behind the leader.
